BOOKSINDEXSTORIESSCRIPTSLINKSHELP
Ruth Gilmore has written a four-book series of children's sermons, published by Augsburg Fortress. Three of the books follow the three-year lectionary cycle of scripture readings as found in the Revised Common Lectionary. We are presently in cycle "A" of the RCL. Cycle "B" begins on the first Sunday of Advent, 2002.
"Saving the Ants" follows the current readings for Sundays, and "Sitting on the Rainbow" will follow the readings beginning in the Advent season. "Barefoot in the Snow" is the supplementary book of sermons for holidays, special times and topics; for example, it offers object lessons and sermons to use on or near holidays such as New Year's, Valentine's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day and St. Patrick's Day. It also contains sermons dealing with diverse subjects such as tithing, conversion, media influence and the death of a child.
The newest book, "Sitting on the Rainbow and 58 other Kids Sermons from the Gospel of Mark" has just been published. This volume may be used with year B of the Revised Common Lectionary. Read the review by Paul Wee.
"Saving the Ants and 58 other Kids Sermons from the Gospel of Matthew" may be used with year A of the Revised Common Lectionary. Read the review by Todd Hylden.
"Barefoot in the Snow and 51 other Kids Sermons for Special Times and Topics" offers sermons for seasonal holidays and festivals as well as other topics such as temptation, discipline, gossip and media influence.
